Rain is one of those unforeseen factors that could really ruin a wedding day if you let it! Rory & Jen held their ceremony on the beach at The Ritz-Carlton and I tell you not more than 2 minutes after the ceremony finished the skies opened up and it poured. Florida rain is unlike anywhere else in the country as the rains do not start slow and build up. Down here, one second it is dry as a bone, the next, your soaked. Well, Jen & Rory did not let this rain ruin their wedding at all.
As a photographer, you have to be flexible and adapt to plans changing, especially on someone’s wedding day because there is always something that will come up, such as rain. Wherever I photograph, I always map out two or three backup locations just in case Plan A does not work. In the case of Jen & Rory, The Ritz-Carlton has such beautiful architecture that I was able to use parts of the hotel as my backdrop. We were fortunate that just as the sun set, the skies cleared and we were left with this amazing blue light to photograph with. I really love how vibrant the beach photos are. Jen’s amazing Vera Wang dress really pops when surrounded by the cool blue colors of the sky and water.
