I am so happy that so many of my families are excited to try new locations this year. Another amazing shoot that The Naples Botanical Gardens from last week. These twins were so sweet together. Early morning is always such a great time to photograph young kids, when they are happy and fresh. I spent over 2 hours with this gang. Typically, young children have a short attention span, but when you are constantly moving about and exploring new things together, you can extend their attention span, which for me as a photographer only provides me a little more time to get the shots I am looking to capture. It’s also super important to establish a fun and relaxed atmosphere right from the start. These family sessions have the potential to be a complete nightmare for poor mom who has spent hours thinking about outfits and secretly praying that the kids will behave. So no one wants to show up at their session and have their photographer freaking out about timing or lighting. As the photographer, part of my job is to set the tone of calmness at each of my sessions. And we all know, if mom is calm and relaxed, the kids will be chill, enabling me to capture honest and beautiful portraits of the kids. So the point of all this… Keep calm and the rest will follow.
And one last shot to remind mom that they are still siblings after all …
