One of the biggest challenges about photographing at the beach is battling bright sun.  We all love that golden hour light– but sometimes that golden hour doesn’t actually hit until 10 minutes before sunset.  Which is why I love to work with any sort of structure that can provide some shade until the sun gets low and soft on the beach.  Palm trees, piers and pilings all prove to be beautiful and natural ways to find some protection from that harsh sunlight.

Take a look at the first image of the beautiful Sophie here.  There was not a cloud in the sky the afternoon of her shoot, so we worked in shadows of the pilings until the sun got soft enough to bring her out.  This gorgeous girl is every bit as beautiful on the inside as she is on the out.
