We placed Honorable Mention in this year’s Planet Magazine’s Travel Photography Contest. We discussed at great length whether to take out the boat or not in this image. The image would be far cleaner without the boat and aesthetically more pleasing. But the boat is part of the scene and part of Italy. So it stayed. Who knows if we would have scored higher without the boat. Either way, I’m feeling very lucky to have been selected as one of their winners, especially when I see some of the other images I was up against.
