Hello January!  I am still posting work from Thanksgiving week–eeek!  Not a great way to start the New Year…behind already!

I have to say, as much as I love Lily Pulitzer, there is something about Black and White photographs on the beach that is simply so timeless.   I have been working a ton with off-camera lighting recently and loving the result.  Here my lighting looks really soft and simple.  I don’t particularly like when the lighting on the beach looks harsh and overdone.  These individual portraits are just the perfect balance of ambient afternoon sun and fill flash.  Great lighting while keeping everything looking soft and natural.

Kim! So happy to hear from you. I would absolutely love to photograph your growing family. When you have dates as to when everyone will be here please reach out and we can discuss location options and what you are ultimately looking for. Love hearing from you and look forward to seeing you in 2015!

Hey Heather,
It is Kim Sweat. Zyblut is my married name. I love these pictures! I have a whole black and white wall of photographers of the kids when they were growing up that I love. The pictures start at age five and go until they are almost 17. I would encourage more families to invest in both the black and white as well as the color. The pictures are one of my most prized possessions!
Next time the girls are in town, I want to book you to take a family picture of my four, Melissa’s girls, my two step-children, and one of my husband and I. Obviously we would spread it out on some different days!
I love following your blog. Kim
