When photographing children, we have to be somewhat adaptable because their mood can dictate how we work and what we capture.  Children who are too young to be bribed or coaxed into cooperating, really, are the boss of the session.  It’s key for them to be happy in order to get good photographs.  So knowing this, it’s important to plan accordingly for the hour we are working together by bringing snacks and keeping things fresh and exciting for the time we are together. During this particular session, the little man didn’t like being put down in the sand, which is a common fear for many children at this age.  When we are working on the beach, and we have a child who doesn’t like to touch the sand, we have to get a little creative with how to position the parents and child so it’s not all the same pose.  I particularly love the first two images posted here.  Both images are all about the baby, but I like how the parents are interacting with their son really creating this lovely family image.
